Carpenter Robotics Center - Midland, MI
The Carpenter Robotics Center, a Midland Public Schools building, is the home base of operations for FIRST of the Great Lakes Bay Region and houses a regulation-sized FRC practice field with wooden team-version field elements and a regulation FTC field with current season kit. The FRC and FTC practice fields are open to all Great Lakes Bay Region FIRST teams upon request (contact [email protected]).
The Carpenter Robotics Center also serves as build and meeting space for several local FRC teams (including Board Member 2619) and all of Midland Public Schools FTC teams.
The Carpenter Robotics Center is an active donation from Midland Public Schools. The FRC field was a donation from the Michigan State University St. Andrews group of Midland. The FRC practice field elements were made possible through the donations of Midland stores Lowe's, Home Depot, Prime Industrial Fasteners and ACE Hardware. Construction was done by students, alumni, parents and friends of local teams. The FTC field was a donation from Dow Chemical Company and the season kit funding is donated by various sponsors each year.
When visiting...
1. Please be cautious driving through the neighborhood. The speed limit is closely monitored and there are children in the area. Street parking is allowed on the side of the block with the school building -- the parking lot isn't very big.
2. A mentor for the team MUST be present with the team while at Carpenter.
3. Absolutely NO food or drink is allowed in the gym. We have shelves near the gym and tables in the hall for storing things and taking breaks.
4. Safety glasses are ALWAYS required when there are robots in the gym.
5. Do NOT access the stage in the gym.
6. Do NOT work on your robot inside of the field perimeter. There is space outside the field and the gym should you need it.
If you need an address for finding the robotics center in your GPS, use 1407 W. Hines Street which puts you near the back of the school where the parking lot and main robotics entrance are located. The actual building address is 1407 W. Carpenter Street in Midland.
